My name is Quinn MacDonald and have been teaching since 2015 in the Portland, Oregon area. I student taught in 3rd grade at a school in Beaverton, but I had this feeling I would end up in kindergarten my first year, and I was right! My first year as a teacher was in kindergarten at a school in northeast Portland. I worked with a group of amazing educators and learned so much about being a teacher and about the wonderful world of kindergarten. After my first year, I moved to McKinley, again as a kindergarten teacher, and spent two years teaching our littlest learners. This year, I decided it was time to make a change and move up to first grade. I'm so excited to experience this next stage of learning!
As much as I love the Pacific Northwest, I actually grew up in Idaho and only moved to the Portland area in 2012. When I moved here, I had no idea I wanted to be a teacher but circumstances led me to working for an after-school program in Hillsboro. I quickly realized that I loved working with elementary school-aged children and after two years, I applied for a teaching program at Lewis & Clark College. As they say, the rest is history!
Teaching is both my hobby and my passion. I absolutely love what I do and feel so lucky to be able to say that! Thank you for visiting our class website, where I can share my passion for teaching and caring for my students with you!
