Learning to tie shoes is a big step for kids! As a teacher, I can tell you that teaching your kids to tie their own shoes has to be one of the most appreciated things you can do. Picture this: On the way to the restroom your child's laces come undone. Since there is no adult around, they have to go into the restroom anyways, trailing their laces through all sorts of yucky germs. When the get back to class, guess who gets to touch those shoes laces. Me! And, later in the day, probably you as well. Help your child, yourself, and school staff by teaching your kids this important skill. Follow the link for a cute video on three ways to tie your shoes.

Back To School Night is this Thursday, September 15th from 6-7:30. Each classroom teacher does two identical presentations so that you have time to make it to at least two classrooms if you have more than one child at the school. See you there!
The next two weeks we will be ready the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?, by Eric Carle and Bill Martin Jr. We will be doing lots of class activities to go along with the story. I invite you to help your student dress in the color that corresponds to our focus color for each day. Here is the schedule:
Monday 9/12: Brown Tuesday 9/13: Red Wednesday 9/14: Yellow Thursday 9/15: Blue Friday 9/16: Green Monday 9/19: Purple Tuesday 9/20: White Wednesday 9/21: Black Thursday 9/22: Gold/Orange If you don't have a clothing item to match the color, don't worry! I know I don't have something in all of those colors. The first day of school is here! Remember, if your last name starts with A-L you will bring your student Tuesday, but NOT Wednesday. If your last name starts with M-Z you will bring your student Wednesday, but NOT Tuesday. Everyone comes on Thursday for our first day together.
Here are a few tips for a successful first day:
I hope you find these tips useful. I am so excited to begin this journey with you and your kindergarteners. See you soon! |
